  4. Some how I have managed to save a newpaper clipping from when I was a little girl. I have found it many times while cleaning drawers throught the years. Well guess what I found while going trough (long over due) boxes from moving? YES, that article that has deepend my faith over the years! It is an article written by First Baptist Church of New Berlin - Pastor Thomas D. Wright. It is titled :

    Ready to Quit?

A shipwrecked sailor, cast up on an uninhabited island, managed to build a hut, in which he placed quite a bit of valuable salvage. Every night be prayed that God would save him in His own way. Every day he watched the horizon for sight of a boat.

One evening as he returned from hunting, he found his hut completely burned down and all his supplies destroyed. This is the end, he thought; but the next morning he was amazed to see a boat approaching the shore. The captain told him, “We saw your fire signal and realized you were in need of help.” The fire that had destroyed his hut and all that he valued so highly had really been God’s answer to prayer.

Through a seeming calamity or disappointment, God often tests our faith, only to bring us greater blessing. When you pray, “Not my will, but Thine be done.” do not grumble if God takes you at your word. He often sends His richest blessings by first going completely contrary to your desires, in order that, through His superior wisdom, He may bring your will into harmony with His.

We fall many times in our lives, in spite of having done our best. Consider, for instance, the Disciples of Christ who fished all night and caught nothing. Then Christ came and told them to let down their nets once more. They were tired and discouraged; nevertheless they obeyed; and they drew up such a load of fish their nets nearly broke.

Many times God tells you to go on when you’d rather quit. Don’t give up. Continue to believe that He knows best, and that He will reward your faith, not necessarily by giving you what you ask, but by making your will one with His, so that you will learn to ask for what He is willing to give. When you and He are working together in this fashion, there is NOTHING He will withhold from you.

    I love you Chuck! xox

  5. Oops, didn't finish my thoughts....When I see how you and Vic have let Him direct you and guide you through this storm, I cannot help but think of you when I read the above article. You have both pressed on with faith and JOY! Not knowing what His plans, simply pressing on knowing He will take care of you! I am reminded that I need to pray for His will, not mine, but I am hoping that He is going to allow us to enjoy you for MANY MANY MANY more years to come!
